An independent pediatric practice that feels like family
Families who come to us from other practices tell us the same thing again and again: this is the best pediatric practice they've been to. Here's what makes Uptown Pediatrics different.
Uptown Pediatrics isn't owned by a hospital or a corporation. Our doctors own and run the practice, so the decisions about your child's care are made in the exam room by people who know your child, not by a distant administrator.
We know your kids, and they know us
You see the same doctor at every checkup, and most of the time for sick visits too. We like seeing our own patients. Our team knows the kids who walk through the door and welcomes them by name.
Easy to reach, day and night
Send a portal message and we answer it throughout the day. Call in the middle of the night and you speak with one of our own doctors, not a nurse at a far-away call center. We run walk-in sick hours every weekday and Saturday sick visits most of the year, and we never turn away our patients: if there are no appointments left, we make one.
Pediatricians and specialists under one roof
Adolescent medicine, pediatric endocrinology, pediatric infectious disease, and child & adolescent psychiatry are down the hall from your pediatrician. Our doctors respect one another (in many ways this is a family business), and if something is puzzling, we'll pull a colleague into the room. Coordination is easy and there are no months-long waits.
Good medicine, decided together
We follow the science. We don't hand out antibiotics a child doesn't need; we talk it through with you and make decisions together. We follow the American Academy of Pediatrics vaccine schedule because vaccines save lives, and we take the time to answer your questions so you can feel confident about them.
Academic medicine in a homey setting
All of our doctors are on the faculty at Mount Sinai. Medical students and pediatric residents learn to be doctors in our office, and that culture of teaching keeps us current on the latest evidence. You get all of that with old-fashioned care built around a medical home and the relationship between you and your doctor.
The best of both worlds
Mount Sinai faculty, but independently owned
We're affiliated with a large, top-rated medical center: we know the doctors at Mount Sinai and coordinate closely so your child gets the best care there. But because no hospital owns us, we can also refer you elsewhere when that's the better fit, and we have a wide network of trusted specialists we refer patients to throughout New York City.
Family-centered care
How you're doing matters too
Kids are part of a family, and how parents are doing affects how kids are doing. We want to know parents and siblings, not just our patient.
Flu shots for parents, alongside their kids, because parents take better care of their kids than of themselves.
We screen new moms for postpartum depression and anxiety at their baby's early visits.
Dr. Hoon, the psychiatrist on our team, can see new moms who are struggling.
Many of our families have been with us for generations: today's parents were once our patients.
An office full of people who love kids
Our office staff are amazing, and they know and love our patients too. Some of our medical assistants have been with us for decades. Others are recent college graduates on their way to medical, PA, or nursing school, and a few have already become nurses. Our office really does feel like family.
Care for every child
We believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and that every child deserves the same access to care. We take insurance, including Medicaid, and give every family concierge-level attention.
Plans we generally accept: Aetna, Cigna, Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield, Oxford Freedom, UnitedHealthcare, NYS Medicaid, Healthfirst.
