Adolescent Medicine on the Upper East Side

Confidential, respectful care for teenagers from a fellowship-trained adolescent medicine specialist, with mental health support from our in-house psychiatrist.

Teenagers need a doctor they can talk to. At Uptown Pediatrics, adolescent medicine is led by Dr. Ivanya Landon Alpert, who completed her adolescent medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai and has presented nationally on teen health. She's recognized as one of New York's top doctors by New York Magazine and Castle Connolly.

As kids get older, part of each visit happens one-on-one. We use a teen confidentiality agreement so adolescents and parents know exactly what stays private and when we'll always loop parents in.

Mental health is a big part of a teenager's life, so Dr. Divya Hoon, our child and adolescent psychiatrist, is part of the adolescent team. We screen every teen for depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns at their checkups, and if there's a concern, we can refer them to Dr. Hoon right here in the office.

Questions about adolescent medicine

Will my teen see the doctor alone?

Usually part of the visit is one-on-one. That time helps teens build their own relationship with their doctor. Our teen confidentiality agreement explains what's private and when parents are always informed, such as safety concerns.

Until what age can my child stay at Uptown Pediatrics?

We care for kids through adolescence and help with the transition to an adult doctor.
